Additional details on SAP PI workshop

Our approach during the instructor-led, hands-on training workshop is to keep the theoretical presentations brief and to do as many exercises as possible. Using a carefully seleted list of exercises, we are able to showcase quite a bit of the SAP PI functionality.

A brief introduction on Enterprise Service Oriented Architecture (ESOA), the Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) and the role of SAP Netweaver and SAP Process Integration in particular was followed by a detailed explanation and demonstration of the procedure for Design, Configuration and test/monitoring of integration scenarios with SAP Pi 7.0.

The hands-on exercises demonstrate the following Adapters: SOAP, FILE, HTTP, XI (proxy technology), JDBC, IDOC, RFC.

Other topics covered included import of External definitions (exercise), Message Mapping, Mapping Templates, Adpater framework, File content conversion exercise, (XPATH) exercise to send file to multiple receivers etc.

BPM exercises included a simple BPM exercise, an exercise using RFC to get data from the SAP system, and an exercise using correlation of messages.

Use of ABAP web services as well as selecting different integration technologies for different scenarios was also discussed. New features of PI 7.1 were also highlighted.
